I often recommend that patients add nuts and seeds to their daily diet due to nuts and seeds containing what is often referred to as "healthy fats." Healthy fats is a general term for omega-3 and omega-6 fats. Omega-3 is what I mostly want to increase in a patient's diet as it has an amazing anti-inflammatory effect on the body. By adding nuts and seeds to a meal you're also increasing the nutritional content of the whole meal with added fibre and nutrients such as zinc and magnesium.
This is a really easy way to add nuts and seeds to your day. Sprinkle 1 tbsp over your salads or also your eggs, avocado toast, stir fries and curries. Simple!
